Reading and the NE London group are trying to run to timetable! All dates are listed under the group tabs on the website. We will need to keep an eye on all Covid guidelines but we will aim to deliver as many sessions as we can. We know that we have lost a lot of time and it has been very difficult for many of us. Sadly the Polar Express trip that the Reading group were booked on for 20 December was cancelled the night before; we have transferred tickets to next year.

Both the Reading and the Chingford sessions have met in the last couple of weeks and it has been so good to see everyone again! So much has happened in the last eighteen months and it is great to be able to offer friends, community and TRAINS to families new and old….check out the group pages for information on the forthcoming sessions. As always postings are also on Facebook, with other information too that may benefit our community.    It is good to be back 🙂

There is a lot of interest in establishing a South London group and some potential organisers participated in the April session of the Reading Engine Shed to see how it all works. Richard Semmens of Streatham is embarking on an ambitious fundraiser in May 2018 in aid of the proposed South London Engine Shed group. This would be run independently but based on the same idea as the two other Engine Shed groups. We were delighted to visit Brookfields Special School to mark Autism Awareness Week 2018. We had a great day, with train layouts inside and out as the weather was so sunny. Classes came in to see us for 30 minutes each throughout the day, taking over the controls and building layouts.

Thank you to the local Freemasons for our grand day out to Chinnor Railway in April! We were treated to multiple rides and a packed lunch for the children, all inside our own carriage 🙂

We are delighted to confirm that we were awarded £500 from Skipton Building Society, as a result of everyone voting for us online! We very much appreciate the support and will be using the funds to get some more trains (what else?!) to keep everyone happy, as well as purchasing refreshments for our sessions  🙂

FREE DAY OUT AT HIGH WYCOMBE MODEL RAILWAY SOCIETY, SATURDAY 22 JULY

For the last three years we have had a great day out at High Wycombe Model Engineering Society with delicious and free BBQ, cakes and refreshments provided by the local Freemasons – and unlimited rides on their fantastic trains!

We have been invited back for another grand day out on Saturday 22 July, 11 am to 2pm. Please email Sarah at reading@theengineshed.org.uk to reserve your places! We will send out directions a few days before.
