The Engine Shed in Reading is now holding adult sessions as well as running days out for adult members. This social group is for autistic adults, those with a learning disability and those without a diagnosis – you just need to enjoy trains! The club enables adults with an interest in trains to come together with their peers to observe, play, talk and enjoy their hobby in a welcoming, safe and relaxing environment – and where parents and carers as appropriate can relax and talk in a supportive atmosphere. We aim to create a community of friendship with the new group, with plenty of opportunities for days out and other enjoyable activities.
As with the other group sessions, model railways and train sets for all abilities are set up and a range of train-related resources are available for participants to engage with.
This is a much smaller group than the children’s group and so we like to arrange sessions as much as possible when people are free. This can be sometimes at the weekend and sometimes in the evening. Please email us to go on the adult group mailing list at email@example.com and we can keep you informed of forthcoming sessions and activities.
We are meeting on average once a month. There is no waiting list and no charge for participating. This group is for those 18 years and over.
If you would like to know more, require clarifications or just want to check sessions are on before you travel, please contact the Coordinator Sarah at firstname.lastname@example.org. There are also updates on our Facebook page, and you can follow us on twitter too.
